SQL SERVER DATABASE ENGINEER

ABOUT THE ROLE

Concrete Vision is seeking a SQL Server Database Engineer to support and enhance our web-based software platform for the precast concrete industry. This role will focus on database design, SQL development, performance optimization, data integrity, reporting support, troubleshooting, and collaboration with software developers and support teams.

Salary range ($75,000-90,000/yr). Based on location and experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and queries.
  • Optimize SQL queries and database performance for large datasets and high-usage environments.
  • Analyze execution plans and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain indexes, constraints, and database structures.
  • Assist with database architecture and schema improvements.
  • Monitor and maintain database health, consistency, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to data, performance, or application integration.
  • Assist support and development teams with customer-related database issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity across integrated systems.
  • Support reporting initiatives using SQL queries and reporting tools.
  • Assist with report optimization and data extraction.
  • Collaborate with teams using Power BI, Telerik Reporting, or other reporting platforms.
  • Create reusable datasets and reporting procedures.
  • Work closely with software developers, QA, implementation teams, and support staff.
  • Participate in planning sessions for workflow improvements and system enhancements.
  • Support integrations with external systems and ERP platforms.
  • Help improve internal processes, automation, and deployment workflows.
  • Document database structures, procedures, and best practices.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced with Microsoft SQL Server environments, with a proven ability to improve database performance, reliability, and scalability to support product growth. They excel at troubleshooting and resolving issues quickly while writing clean, maintainable SQL code that enhances system stability and efficiency. This individual brings a strong focus on improving reporting and analytics capabilities to drive better business insights. They also collaborate effectively with development and support teams to maintain performance, streamline workflows, and support ongoing application initiatives.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL development, including writing and maintaining complex queries
  • Demonstrated experience with query optimization and database performance tuning
  • Experience developing and managing stored procedures, views, functions, and indexing strategies
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and data normalization principles
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance and data integrity issues
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and routine maintenance processes
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Telerik Reporting, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, manufacturing software, or operational business environments
  • Experience supporting SaaS or web-based applications and related database environments
  • Exposure to ETL processes, data integrations, and API-driven data workflows
